About this app

Exponent Rules is an interactive middle-school math app for exploring how powers work by counting repeated factors. Adjust the base and exponents to see that multiplying powers with the same base adds exponents, while raising a power to another power multiplies them. A four-question challenge also practices adding exponents for multiplication, subtracting them for division, and multiplying them for a power of a power.

Use cases

  • Middle-school students learning exponent laws
  • Teachers demonstrating exponent rules in class
  • Learners practicing repeated-factor reasoning
  • Students reviewing exponent simplification

Features

  • Interactive multiplication exploration for aᵐ × aⁿ = aᵐ⁺ⁿ
  • Interactive power-of-a-power exploration for (aᵐ)ⁿ = aᵐⁿ
  • Adjustable base and two exponent values
  • Visual factor displays and calculated expression values
  • Four-question quiz with answer feedback and streak tracking
