Earth and Sea

In Land, Sea, Air, spin the globe and see at a glance that the ocean covers more than twice as much area as land. In Tides, move time forward to catch the rising and ebb tides that happen twice a day, then search the exposed mudflat for clams, crabs, and mudskippers one by one. In Shorelines, change the wave strength and the seafloor material — fine mud, sand, or rock — to see which coastline forms: a cliff, a sandy beach, or a mudflat. Strong waves wear rock into cliffs, while weak waves let fine mud settle into mudflats — you build the coastline with your own hands.
About this app
Earth and Sea is an interactive science learning app for exploring Earth’s land, ocean, atmosphere, tides, and shorelines. Spin through different Earth views, toggle the air layer and a seawater-versus-river-water comparison, then move through time to observe rising and ebb tides. A shoreline experiment lets learners change wave strength and bottom material to see cliffs, sand beaches, or mudflats form.
Use cases
- Elementary students learning about Earth and oceans
