We Were Only Hunting for Examples That Fit
🔢 «2, 4, 6 fits my rule» — work out the one hidden rule. Enter three numbers and you get back «yes» or «no», as often as you like. Most people only try things they expect a «yes» from: 8·10·12, 20·22·24. But the rule was simply «three numbers that increase». 📋 Second, review. Tests that came back «yes» cannot narrow the rule — going up by 2, three even numbers, and adding to 12 all pass 2·4·6 just the same. It is the «no» answers that split the candidates. If you never got a single no, you confirmed but never tried to break it. ✂️ Third, what is worth testing. 2·4·6 passes «all four» candidates, so whatever comes back you learn nothing. 8·10·12 passes three; 1·3·5 passes only two — the test that cuts them in half teaches the most. This app was made with code too · Remix it and change the hidden rule.
