Just Choosing the Next Word
by Anonymous · ⭐ 1 · 🍴 0
🎲 When you ask AI something, it may seem to «know» the answer, but it’s really just choosing the next word one at a time. In the first tab, take the chooser’s seat yourself. Each word has a bar: the longer it is, the more often AI chooses that word. Build a sentence using only the longest bars, then try using only the shortest. Both sentences make sense, but feel very different, right? 🌡️ Next is the knob. Set it to safe, and AI always picks number one, so you’ll get the same sentence even three times in a row. Turn it to normal, and the answers start to vary. That knob is why the same question can get a different answer each time. 🎯 Last comes reading the bars. Find the tallest word, the shortest, the word above half, and the second-tallest word. The four bars always add up to 100. This app was made with code too · Remix it and add your own sentence pieces!

About this app
An interactive educational game that explains how a language model can choose the next word using probabilities. Explore sentence completion by selecting the most or least likely words, adjust a three-level dial from Safe to Wild to compare repeated outputs, and read probability bars that always total 100. Four missions in each activity help learners understand why AI responses can be predictable or different.
Use cases
- Elementary students learning AI literacy
- Teachers demonstrating language-model probability
- Families exploring how text generation works
- Beginners learning basic computer-science concepts
Features
- Three activities: Keep Writing, The Dial, and Read the Bars
- Tap probability-weighted words to complete a sentence
- Compare Safe, Normal, and Wild generation settings
- Generate repeated sentences and track different results
- Identify highest, lowest, over-50%, and second-highest probabilities
- Reset activities and advance through four missions
