Change the Words, Change the Answer
🧩 A request to AI has three parts: who, what, and how. On the first tab, pick the parts and ask away. Then change only “who”: seven-year-old → middle schooler → scientist. The topic and format stay the same, but the wording of the answer gets trickier. Now change only “how”—this time, just the ending changes. 📏 Next, leave the blanks empty. What happens when you decide nothing? AI fills all three parts in its own way (shown in orange). You’ll see how being more specific brings you closer to the answer you want. 🎯 Last, work backward: look only at the answer and guess “how the request was made.” Compare a rainbow written in easy words with one written in harder words, and the answer becomes clear. Plausible Lies
🔍 AI can say things it doesn’t know with great confidence. In the first tab, open the penguin guide and check whether its claims are really in the book. To say «not there», you have to check all three pages — checking only two won’t count. There’s a trick, too: the book says «about 120 cm», but AI says «about 200 cm». Looking similar isn’t evidence. 💪 Next, confidence. Tap the most confident answer (95%) out of four. It has no evidence! The most cautious one (40%), on the other hand, does. Confidence and accuracy have nothing to do with each other. 🎯 Last comes the verdict. Now you’ll look not at «how confident it sounds», but at «whether it has evidence». It Knows Only What It Learns
🧺 AI seems smart because it has “seen a lot.” In the first tab, teach it by putting cat, dog, and rabbit pictures into baskets yourself. Then empty the baskets completely—the AI can’t say anything, because no learning means no answers. Can you find a way to make it recognize all three animals with just three pictures? ⚖️ Next, fix it. With a basket holding 6 cat pictures and 1 dog picture, it calls a dog “cat.” You can add more dogs, but it’s fun to discover that removing cats fixes it too. The key isn’t “how many,” but “what it compares.” 🎯 Last, find the reason. Where should you look when AI gets it wrong? The answer is always in the basket. Just Choosing the Next Word
🎲 When you ask AI something, it may seem to «know» the answer, but it’s really just choosing the next word one at a time. In the first tab, take the chooser’s seat yourself. Each word has a bar: the longer it is, the more often AI chooses that word. Build a sentence using only the longest bars, then try using only the shortest. Both sentences make sense, but feel very different, right? 🌡️ Next is the knob. Set it to safe, and AI always picks number one, so you’ll get the same sentence even three times in a row. Turn it to normal, and the answers start to vary. That knob is why the same question can get a different answer each time. 🎯 Last comes reading the bars. Chop Up Words
✂️ AI doesn’t read words whole like we do. It splits them into “chunks.” In the first tap, press between letters to cut them apart. If you cut less than AI, it asks for more; if you cut too much, it tells you to join some back together. But the final mission is different—the answer is not to cut at all! AI knows very common words whole. 📚 Next, compare them. Pick the longest word and something surprising happens: it’s the longest, but it doesn’t have the most chunks. Chunk count depends not on “length,” but on how often a word is used. 🎯 Last, guess. Think how many chunks there will be, then tap to check. Get it right and the chunks split apart!
