Who Sets Prices?
Does the shopkeeper choose prices freely? 🙋 Keep 4 items on the shelf and add more shoppers. As everyone tries to buy, the price rises! Reduce the shoppers, and the price falls; when shoppers and items match, the price stays put. 📦 Now keep the shoppers the same and add more items — just like prices falling after a bumper harvest. 👛 One last twist: set a price for eight people with different amounts of money. A higher price may mean more earnings, but more people will be unable to buy. Find a price everyone can afford, and one only a single person can afford! Spend It or Save It?
What will you buy with 30🪙? 🛒 You want both candy and snacks, but choosing one leaves less money for the other—what you give up is its real cost. Spend it exactly and try to buy the most items. 🐷 Next, saving: how many months to buy something costing 35🪙 with a monthly allowance of 10🪙? Save nothing and you can never buy it; even saving everything takes more than three months. ⏳ Finally, interest: leave 100🪙 in savings and interest earns interest too, so the bars get steeper over time. Find where it grows past double! This app was made with code too · Remix it with your own allowance and wishlist!},
Is Cheaper Really Cheaper?
Is the bigger pack always the better deal? ⚖️ 200g for 24🪙, 500g for 55🪙 — by the sticker price, the small pack looks cheaper, but turn on “See price per 100g” and the story changes. Swipe through the shelves and you’ll find places where the big pack costs more. 🎁 Next come the deals: buy 1 get 1, buy 3 get 1, 25% off, second half price — they sound different, but when you check the price per item, three are exactly the same! Can you find a deal where you need to buy four even though you only need one? 🕵️ Finally, the shelf. Rank four packs by price per 100g to pick the truly cheapest one. The biggest wasn’t always the cheapest, was it? This app was made with code too · Shall we remix it with the prices in our own shopping cart?
Swap and Swap
How did people get things before money? 🤝 Look at what villagers «have → want» and match them in pairs. Bartering works only when both sides want what the other has—one-sided wants won’t make a trade. The salt seller wants rice, but the rice owner doesn’t want salt, so he can’t trade with anyone. 🐚 So people chose something «everyone would accept». Once shells appeared, selling and buying became separate: if one sack of rice isn’t enough, sell another. 🪙 Tap to see what can become money. Fish don’t last long, and rice is heavy. What has all four qualities? This app was made with code too · Remix it and build a village with things from our class!
