Mountains in Lines

How can we draw a mountain’s height on flat paper? 🍰 Slice the mountain horizontally at equal heights. The side view appears on the left and the top view on the right, making it easy to see that “each cut becomes a line.” The more closely you slice, the more lines you get—and the more detail you see. ⛰️ Now keep the height the same and change only the mountain’s width. A narrow base makes the lines bunch up; a wide base spreads them out—so “close lines mean steep slopes.” 🗺️ Finally, read a real contour map. Find the highest and lowest places between two peaks! Is the bigger pack always the better deal? ⚖️ 200g for 24🪙, 500g for 55🪙 — by the sticker price, the small pack looks cheaper, but turn on “See price per 100g” and the story changes. Swipe through the shelves and you’ll find places where the big pack costs more. 🎁 Next come the deals: buy 1 get 1, buy 3 get 1, 25% off, second half price — they sound different, but when you check the price per item, three are exactly the same! How did people get things before money? 🤝 Look at what villagers «have → want» and match them in pairs. Bartering works only when both sides want what the other has—one-sided wants won’t make a trade. The salt seller wants rice, but the rice owner doesn’t want salt, so he can’t trade with anyone. 🐚 So people chose something «everyone would accept».
