Count the Beats
by Anonymous · ⭐ 0 · 🍴 0
Music is a game of dividing time. ⚖️ First, balance the notes: how many quarter notes equal one whole note? Then use only eighth notes to match a half note—and hear “long” and “short” as each note plays its length. 🥁 Next, fill a measure. 4/4 means “four quarter notes in one measure.” Notes that don’t fit stay out, and empty space remains if it’s not full. Fill it just right and tap “Listen” to hear the first beat ring louder. ⏱️ Last comes tempo. At 60 beats per minute, one beat is exactly 1 second; at 120, it takes half as long. The same score can sound very different at different speeds! This app was made with code too—remix it and make the rhythm of a song you know?

About this app
Counting the Beat is an interactive music-learning app for exploring note durations, time signatures, and tempo. Learners combine whole, half, dotted half, quarter, and eighth notes to match target lengths, fill 3/4 or 4/4 measures exactly, and calculate how long a beat or four-beat bar lasts at different BPM values. Sound playback lets them hear note durations, completed measures, and tempo changes.
